We got to talk to Aaron tonight. It was so much fun...He was traveling to the Brazilian Embassy to help his new companion get all his legal documents. So, when he went into the subway the call cut out on us. We called 5 different times to finally get to visit with him. His companion was in line and Aaron was visiting with us. We invited all the kids and the grandparents to share the call with us. We mostly just listened as Aaron spoke and answered questions from Steve.
Everyone was on cell phones so there was an echo this time, but it still was fabulous to hear his voice. The Christmas call was clearer due to him being on his land line.
Steve started speaking Japanese and Aaron just started talking to him. He sounded so good. He could keep up with the conversation and they had a blast visiting. Steve told him he had improved a lot and that made Aaron pleased.
Due to calling the 5 times it took extra minutes from the calling card so the call ended with everyone saying good bye, but Aaron had a few more things that he needed to talk about, so we called him back after putting more time on the calling card.
His companion is from Brazil. Elder de Silva was on Study Abroad when he was 15 in Oregon and went to LDS Business College for a year. So, he and Aaron speak English while Aaron helps him with his Japanese and Elder de Silva teaches him Portuguese.
Aaron shared his testimony in Japanese and it was so full of the spirit. It was a tender time for him and for all of us. But, especially for Steve. Steve was so thrilled to hear the Japanese just roll off Aaron's tongue. Then Aaron shared his testimony in Portuguese. He is really doing well with that language. He said he could understand about 85% and understands Portuguese like he was just coming out of the MTC.
Aaron mentioned they have a baptism on May 31st and are going to invite another investigator to also be baptized on that date. They have several referrals that are really coming along and they hope to challenge them to baptism in the next few weeks.
Aaron is loving his mission and all that is coming at him. We received a really nice letter from his mission president today. He is pleased with how Aaron is doing and how obedient he is.
We look forward to our next visit at Christmas time. The 45 minutes goes so fast and everyone wishes they could have longer, but it still is so good just to hear his voice and feel of his spirit and know that he is doing what he needs to at this time in his life....
What a blessing...
