Taiko passed away on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011...he is missed...

Taiko was our minature maltese and Sassy is our Shitzu...They loved to go for rides with us...They have traveled everywhere...They lived in Japan for two years with us...We have had both dogs for eight years...
Taiko loved resting in his pen and behind the love seat...he enjoyed basking in the sun on the rocks in the backyard...Taiko loved to go into the arroyo...he could get out our back fence...he would prance on the other side of the fence to irratate Sassy...we had a snow day and frigid cold weather...he went out and we didn't see him for awhile...he came in through the doggie door and sat by me while I was working on the computer...very out of the norm for him...I looked down and saw blood everywhere...Amanda ran for a blanket and I picked him up and handed him to Steve...Steve took him to the pickup and we went to the vet...while we were examining him...we found claw marks on his back and under his rib cage...we figured a hawk picked him up while in the arroyo and Taiko turned and bit the hawks leg and he was then dropped...Taiko had severe head injuries, broken jaw, broken leg and a puctured lung...He was hurt so bad, that we had to put him to sleep...it was so hard...we have had him for 8 years...we found that he had come up our road from the arroyo to our back yard, through the fence, along the sidewalk and into the house...it broke my heart when we had to put him down...I stayed with him as they gave him the medicine...it was so sad... Sassy is so missing him and not wanting to be by herself...so we take her with us...she beats us to the front door, wags her tail and waits...she got the front door open and looks through the glass door waiting for us to get home...
