Aaron loves to play tennis. This is one of Aaron's English students that has an indoor court. He let Aaron and his companion come over on P-day and play. Aaron really enjoyed getting to know this gentleman in Toyama.

no box yet...but I still have faith, so it will come (hehe)
fun new things I am eating....lots of delicious brazilian meat!! they do love their meat and the members love giving it to us! So, not at all to my dismay, my brazilian comp, who is a little taller than me, makes us delicious meat for lunch almost every day! apartment is just a little guy but has carpet rugs over the tatami so is much warmer! I love that!! and the desk and chair are much nicer too, so thats a nice plus!

Aaron's letter 2-16-09
Hey Everyone!!
Well another week gone by and I am still chugging along at this third language
thing!!
A little bit about the Brazillians....
they love meat! We have a freezer drawer full of meat and my Brazillian comp
loves to cook it and I love to endulge him by eating it! They are such a loving
people and the best to work with! I now feel like I am serving in the Brazil
mission until I go to english class or church! haha, it is way fun and I am just
tryin hard to be able to say a little bit!
The area is still pretty big and yesterday we rode for over an hour up and down
the mountainy highway to visit an investigator family and drop off a gift to
them. Way fun day and it just shows us even more that there are areas yet
unventured ready to be worked!
So now for an experience...
Yesterday during personal study I read the talk *The Quest for Joy* by Barbara
Workman and after felt like is should go and say a prayer. So, I went into the
kitchen and did so. I felt to thank Heavenly Father for all the joy and
different experiences He has given me up to now and for the great help He has
also provided. As I read the story, I had intended to seek forgiveness for
downfalls, but as I began to pray I was just urged to gratitude for past joy and
excitement for future experiences!
The reason this experiecne really hit home to me was because it again testified
to me that Heavenly Father really knows each of us. He hears our prayers and
guides us in our pursuits of a happy life.
In my case He helped me realize the many blessing I am currently endowed with
(including my AWESOME FAMILY)! And through that experience I realized there is
so much to be grateful for and truly never a reason to be down in the dumps. Of
course we all make mistakes and need to seek to be better and improve. But
honestly, Heavenly Father knows our hearts and is waiting to fill them with joy.
The Church is completely true and I know it with all my heart! I hope you all
can feel a portion of this joy that us missionaries get to feel all the time!
Always remember you have a Father up in Heaven who is waiting to help once you
open your heart to Him!

Amanda is on the honor roll at JMMS
Oh my stars....we are so excited when we received an email from the school that Amanda was on the honor roll for this past term at her school. She was so excited to see her name on the list and can't stop smiling....

Dean is on his way to Las Vega, NV and then to Buffalo, NY
We took Dean to the airport this afternoon and were really sad that he had to leave. It was so nice to have him here. We get there to check him in and found that his flight would be delayed by 1 hour and 20 minutes due to fog in San Fransico. That would make his flight landing in Chicago right at the same time his connecting flight would be taking off. He decided to go ahead and chance it instead of staying one more night and then leaving in the morning. He needs to be at work by 8:00am Monday morning.
While he was going through security they were able to work out a different flight for him. This one would land in Las Vegas, NV and then connect into Buffalo, NY. No delays and no staying in Chicago all night. He heard his name called and I also text him to go to a different gate. He started running to the new gate because they were in the final boarding stage. Anyways, he is on his way to Vegas now and then will be home in NY an hour ealier than what he originally was scheduled. Southwest is so good to work with.

Friday, February 13, 2009...
Today started out with Steve leaving by 6:30 to go to work. I had a couple of appointments that I had to go to. Amanda had piano lessons and was out of school for parent/teacher's conferences. They have 1600 kids at her school and so you don't go to conferences unless there is a problem. Amanda is doing great, so she didn't have to go. Dean took his first college test on line for this semester while we were all gone. Then, Steve came home and needed to check out some church buildings. We all went along for the ride and to let Dean see some of New Mexico's charm. Dean was able to see several of the buildings that Steve is over. It was fun for him to see the different church buildings and the great distance Steve has to travel. We had a great time...didn't get home until 10:00pm. Long day, but so nice to be together...
Birthday dinner...bottom two pictures are one of two birthday breakfasts...
We split the birthday breakfasts up. Steve likes Eggs Benedict and Dean likes Belguim Waffles. Since we were up so late and the waffles take 2 hours to set before cooking, we decided that Steve's breakfast would be on the birthday. Steve had to be to work by 7:00 and I had to be to work by 7:55. Dean's breakfast will happen on Sunday. We are making this a birthday weekend, not just a birthday day...
